Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced that the Food Security Systems and Central Logistics Hub, as well as the Psychiatric Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute, will be completed by next year.
The Food Security Systems and Central Logistics Hub, which will be the largest in Sub-Saharan Africa, aims to ensure food sufficiency for Lagosians and stabilize market prices.
The hub will have large cold and dry chain storage facilities, and its completion is expected to reduce food prices in Lagos markets.
According to Sanwo-Olu, “We are on track. Phase one of the project should be ready by the second quarter of next year. It will be fully sufficient with electricity and a road network that can make it operational.”
The Psychiatric Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute, which will be the largest in Sub-Saharan Africa, will provide mental health services, address drug abuse challenges, and offer psychosocial support to residents.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of mental health, stating, “We believe that this aspect of our health delivery is equally important. We believe that we have seen the worst health challenges in terms of mental health issues, and we need to make a classic case of this and make sure that it is first in class.”
Both projects are expected to have a significant impact on the lives of Lagos residents, and their completion is eagerly anticipated.
