Hon. Sir Basil Ejidike, JP (Ikwelle Nnabuenyi), has paid his first official visit to the National Root Crops Research Institute in Umudike since assuming office as Board Chairman.
His appointment was recently approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The visit, which lasted two days, attracted a wide ranging delegation drawn from the South East.
Those in attendance included political allies, captains of industry, investors and members of the academic community who accompanied the Chairman to the Institute.
During his stay, Sir Basil met with the management and workforce of NRCRI in a series of engagements designed to deepen understanding of the Institute’s operations.
A general interactive forum was also held, giving staff across all levels the opportunity to exchange views directly with the Board Chairman.
The programme further featured an extensive inspection of research and administrative facilities to assess ongoing activities and infrastructure. The visit was rounded off with a private meeting of the Board, where key institutional matters were deliberated upon.
