The Niger State Government is advancing discussions with the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to establish a solid partnership for the efficient transportation of farm produce by rail across Nigeria.
During a meeting with the Managing Director of NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, at the Palace of the Oniru of Iruland, Victoria Island, Lagos, Governor Mohammed Umar Bago emphasized the stateās commitment to the Federal Governmentās food security initiative.
He noted that partnering with the NRC would help address post-harvest logistical challenges and ensure a seamless supply chain for agricultural products.
Dr. Opeifa assured the Governor of NRCās support in enhancing logistics and strengthening the supply chain, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He reiterated the Corporationās commitment to ensuring farm produce reaches its destination at fair prices and in well-preserved condition to advance the Federal Governmentās food security goals.
The Oniru of Iruland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun II, reaffirmed his support for the Niger State Governmentās food security initiative.
He highlighted ongoing engagements with the Chairman of Niger Foods, Sammy Adigun, and the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to enhance agricultural ventures that would benefit Lagos, Nigeriaās commercial hub.
Sammy Adigun, in his remarks, commended the Niger State Governmentās efforts to finalize the deal with NRC.
He expressed optimism that train services between Minna and Lagos would resume soon, boosting agricultural trade and food distribution across the country.
