Niger Reaffirms Commitment to Boost Food Production

by AgroNigeria

The Government of Niger State has recently reaffirmed its decision to enhance food production through the establishment of a food processing company in the state.

This was disclosed by Alhaji Abubakar Usman, the Secretary to the State Government, during a stakeholders’ meeting on the Bobi Grazing Reserve held at the Government House in Minna.

Alhaji Usman stated that this move would unlock the vast potential of the livestock industry, attract investments, and increase employment opportunities in the state.

He emphasized that the current administration is committed to agriculture, stating that the sector is the only way to achieve the long-standing goal of food security, create employment opportunities, and supply raw materials to aid industrialization. Consequently, the government is actively pursuing every available opportunity to achieve its set goals.

He further stressed that the government is passionate about establishing the Bobi Grazing Reserve in the Mariga and Mashegu Local Government Areas of the state, regardless of bandit attacks, as security measures will be put in place to safeguard the reserve and private sector investments.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) received briefings from various stakeholders, including the Reserve’s Consultant, who also holds the title of Emir of Muri, Alhaji Abbas Tafida, along with representatives from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Friesland Campina Wamco, Chi Limited, Hail Consortium, Neon Dairies Plc, and Iris Dairies.
