The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of Abubakar Abdulsalami University of Agriculture and Climate Action, Mokwa, Niger State, as the 65th state university and the 277th university in Nigeria.
The certificate of recognition was formally presented to Niger State Governor Umaru Bago by the Pro-Chancellor of Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna, Professor Muhammad Kuta-Yahaya, during a ceremony held in Minna on Tuesday.
Governor Bago commended Professor Kuta-Yahaya for his dedication to advancing education in Niger State and expressed gratitude for the pivotal role he has played in the sector.
The governor described the development as a transformative step for the state, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to revitalizing the education system and ensuring access to quality learning opportunities for all citizens.
He noted that the new university aligns with the state’s broader vision of promoting agricultural innovation and addressing climate action challenges, positioning Niger State as a hub for academic excellence and sustainable development.
