The Nigeria Women for Agricultural Progressive and Development Initiative (NWAPDI) is seeking to partner with the Osun state government to empower women farmers in the state with better agronomic practices and benefits.
According to Farmer Omolara Svensson, National Coordinator of NWAPDI, “A state like Osun, rich in agricultural produce, should harness its prowess and earn from it.”
She emphasized the need for mechanization to boost the quality of produce for export, particularly for women farmers who face health risks with current methods.
Svensson assured the Osun state government that a partnership with NWAPDI will benefit the women of the state, saying, “They are enthusiastic and determined to farm, and all they need is the right support.”
Commissioner for Federal Affairs, Adenike Adeleke, receiving the NWAPDI delegation, promised to give their proposals the needed attention, stating, “The state holds whatever has to do with women in high regards.”
The proposed partnership aims to:
– Empower women farmers with better agronomic practices
– Boost the quality of produce for export
– Provide mechanization and locally fabricated machines for processing
– Support the youth wing, which is gender-inclusive
NWAPDI seeks to collaborate with the Osun state government to uplift women farmers and contribute to the state’s agricultural growth.
