Oyo Govt Targets Agribusiness Interventions At Grassroots Level

by AgroNigeria

The Director General of Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), Dr. Debo Akande, has revealed that the state government is preparing a fresh implementation plan aimed at strengthening grassroots driven agribusiness interventions across the state.

Akande, who also serves as Executive Adviser to the Governor on Agribusiness, made this known in Ibadan during an engagement with Supervisory Councillors for agriculture drawn from all 33 local government areas. He explained that the new plan will build on existing efforts while ensuring that more rural communities benefit directly from government programmes.

He noted that the administration remains committed to extending the reach of its policies beyond large scale projects, with deliberate attention on communities at the ward and local government levels. According to him, the approach is designed to ensure that agribusiness development translates into visible improvements in the lives of ordinary people.

Akande said feedback from the councillors indicates that several initiatives introduced by the government are already making a difference in various parts of the state. He pointed out that programmes such as the NPS initiative and the Youth Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness Programme have recorded growing participation and impact among beneficiaries.

He described the responses from the local government representatives as a clear indication that the strategies adopted by the state are yielding results. The councillors, he said, are in a strong position to assess progress since they operate close to the communities where these interventions are being implemented.

The OYSADA boss also stressed the importance of maintaining regular engagement with stakeholders at the grassroots. He explained that such interactions provide the government with firsthand information about local needs and help shape more responsive policies.

Akande added that the government remains open to suggestions and will continue to adjust its programmes based on feedback received from communities and stakeholders.

He expressed confidence that the current direction of agribusiness development in the state will continue to deliver tangible outcomes for residents.
