The Pan-African Farmers Organization (PAFO) has called for stronger farmer involvement in shaping agricultural policies across Africa, emphasizing the need for direct participation in governance and decision-making.
Speaking at a high-level side event during the CAADP Kampala Declaration, PAFO brought together key stakeholders to discuss challenges hindering agricultural transformation, including climate change, underinvestment, and weak governance structures.
However, the discussions highlighted the urgent need for inclusive policies, increased funding for rural farmers, and greater access to markets and climate adaptation resources.
PAFO President Ibrahima Coulibaly stressed that African farmers must move from being passive recipients of policies to active decision-makers.
He reaffirmed PAFO’s commitment to ensuring that future agricultural reforms under the CAADP framework genuinely prioritize the needs of those who produce the continent’s food.
