The Kwara State Government has revealed that over 20,000 50kg bags of maize have been approved for distribution at a subsidized rate among the state’s residents.
The state palliative committee began the distribution of the maize palliatives on Sunday, with the first batch of bags distributed among farmers.
The government’s palliative ensures that these maize palliatives are sold to farmers at a 50% subsidized rate, just like the first batch, which saw the distribution of 25,000 bags.
Members of the public commended the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for the initiative, which will ease the difficulties faced by farmers and improve food availability among the citizens.
The maize palliative is given to farmers at a 50kg bag of maize for N10,000 per bag, which is 38.46% of the market value of N26,000, reducing the cost of the prized item and bringing ease to the general public significantly.
