The government of Plateau State has reiterated its commitment to sustaining the progress made in the state’s agricultural sector through targeted initiatives designed to empower local farmers and stimulate economic growth.

The Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communication, Honourable Joyce Ramnap, made this known in a recent post on social media.

According to her, the administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang is focused on promoting sustainable agriculture as a key foundation for long-term development in Plateau.

She explained that programs like the Plateau Youth Agricultural Empowerment Project (PYAEP) are equipping young farmers with modern farming techniques and providing them with the skills to operate advanced agricultural machinery.

She noted that this approach is not only boosting productivity but also preparing the next generation of farmers for the challenges ahead.

Further highlighting the BARC Farms initiative, she mentioned that participants are actively involved in practical activities such as thinning maize, rice, and soybeans, as well as weeding rice fields.

According to her, these hands-on efforts are already yielding positive results and contributing to improved food security across the state.

She also pointed out that the government views agriculture as more than just a source of livelihood; it is a central driver of economic growth and community development.

She added that Governor Mutfwang’s leadership is focused on turning Plateau’s natural resources, cultural heritage, and creative potential into long-term assets for the people.

Honourable Ramnap emphasized her ongoing support for initiatives that foster youth involvement and promote sustainable farming practices.

She expressed the government’s appreciation for the collective efforts of farmers, youth, and all stakeholders who are working to ensure the success of these programs.

According to her, the government is proud of the progress made so far and remains committed to building on this momentum to create a prosperous future for Plateau State.
