In a proactive response to the mounting challenges posed by the escalating cost of feed production, the Delta State Government, under the visionary leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has distributed a total of 7,660 bags, equivalent to 388 tonnes, to the esteemed members of the Poultry Farmers Association of Nigeria (PAN), Delta State Chapter.
The significance of this initiative was emphasized by Mr. Jaro Egbo, a dedicated aide to Governor Oborevwori, during his articulation in Ibusa, Oshimili North L.G.A. The core motive behind this strategic move is deeply embedded in Governor Oborevwori’s overarching agenda to mitigate the adverse effects of the surging costs associated with feed production in Nigeria.
However, Mr. Egbo stressed that the benevolent gesture is not just a fleeting solution but a concerted effort to address the broader issue of the high cost of living. By promoting and encouraging local production of essential commodities, such as maize for feed, the Delta State Government envisions creating a sustainable environment for its citizens. This, in turn, fosters self-sufficiency, positioning the state to compete favorably with any other region in the country in terms of agricultural productivity.
In providing solutions, a planning phase has been undertaken, with 528 tonnes of maize expected to be distributed to poultry farmers across the state upon the completion of this initiative.
Mr. Egbo assured that the selection process, involving the verification of PAN’s member list, showcased an impressive 97% compliance, underscoring the transparency and effectiveness of the distribution strategy.
The Chairperson of the Poultry Farmers Association of Nigeria (PAN), Delta State Chapter, Mr. Eric Tomfawei, expressed heartfelt appreciation for Governor Oborevwori’s foresighted policies and impactful programs aimed at fortifying food security within the state. This strategic intervention serves as a testament to the government’s unwavering commitment to the well-being and prosperity of its citizens.
