In a significant move to improve agricultural productivity in Sokoto South senatorial district, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on Wednesday inaugurated the distribution of 4,200 bags of fertilizers to farmers across the zone.
The former governor of Sokoto State launched the initiative at the zonal headquarters in Bodinga Local Government Area, marking a significant milestone in his commitment to supporting his constituents.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Constituency Affairs and Stakeholders Engagements, Hon. Aminu Bala Bodinga, Senator Tambuwal stated that the gesture is aimed at improving farmers’ yields during the current rainy season.
The senator revealed that while the federal government had allocated two truckloads of fertilizers to his constituency, he personally supplemented this with an additional five truckloads to ensure coverage for all seven local governments in the district.
Emphasizing transparency in the distribution process, the lawmaker, who also chairs the Senate Committee on Housing and Urban Development, stated, “We have devised a transparent and equitable formula to ensure that every local government receives its allocation without bias. Our goal is to support farmers in all seven councils, and we will achieve this through a fair and square distribution process.”
Senator Tambuwal urged beneficiaries to make effective use of the fertilizers, highlighting their potential to significantly boost crop yields and improve livelihoods.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the PDP in Sokoto, Hon. Bello Aliyu Goronyo, commended Senator Tambuwal for his tireless efforts to drive development in his constituency and across the state.
Represented by his deputy, Aliyu Muhammad, the chairman praised the senator’s contributions to the well-being of Nigerians, contrasting his achievements with the perceived inaction of the ruling party.
The fertilizer distribution program is regarded as a testament to Senator Tambuwal’s dedication to empowering farmers and fostering agricultural growth in his constituency.
