Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industry, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, has expressed optimism that the hunger currently affecting Nigeria will subside before the end of the year.

Speaking to journalists in Ilase-Ijesa, Osun State, the lawmaker, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, attributed his confidence to ongoing government efforts and the agricultural potential of the country.

Fadahunsi commended President Bola Tinubu for his recent directives aimed at poverty alleviation and economic recovery, particularly focusing on local investments.

The Senator emphasized that the current leadership’s focus on deepening engagement with local communities will contribute to an improvement in the country’s food security.

He added that the allocation of funds to state governments, in line with these strategies, would hold them accountable for improving conditions in their regions.

“We are moving in the right direction. I believe that by the end of the year, we will start seeing the positive effects of these efforts,” he said.

The lawmaker also encouraged Nigerians to embrace farming, a solution he believes will play a significant role in addressing hunger.

“I am farming, and I believe everyone should farm,” he stated, stressing that increased food production would lead to a reduction in hunger and a more hopeful outlook for the country’s development.

In addition to his comments on agriculture, Senator Fadahunsi called for wider participation in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration process.

He urged citizens, especially those without a Permanent Voters Card (PVC), to take part in the registration exercise.

Highlighting his personal involvement in mobilizing his community, he emphasized the importance of ensuring that all eligible voters, including farmers and long-settled individuals, are registered.

“I have personally gone around to ensure that all stakeholders are fully engaged, including cultural leaders and community heads,” Fadahunsi said.

He reiterated the need for all eligible voters, including those from diverse ethnic groups, to participate in the process.
