Vice President Kashim Shettima has awarded agricultural grants to over 500 graduates across Nigeria, including 20 from southern Kaduna, to support them in cultivating various crops.
Shettima stated that this initiative is part of the government’s efforts to combat food insecurity and aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s agricultural revolution agenda.
Twenty graduates from eight local government areas in Southern Kaduna have been empowered to farm 20 hectares of improved maize varieties in a farm cluster located in Zango Kataf Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
The goal of this initiative is to reduce poverty and help citizens become self-reliant and employers of labor through agriculture.
By engaging young graduates in farming and providing them with start-up grants, Vice President Shettima aims to create sustainable livelihoods in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Beneficiaries in Southern Kaduna have already begun cultivating high-quality maize varieties on the allocated hectares of land.
Dr. Markus Fangan, Secretary of Zango Kataf Local Government Area, praised the vice president for the initiative, noting that it will help address social issues and boost the nation’s economy.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, stating that the initiative not only provides economic opportunities but also offers hope and a sense of purpose, paving the way for a brighter future
