Yobe Govt. to Support Young Farmers With Farm Inputs

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting young farmers in the 2024 cropping season to ensure food security and reduce unemployment.

The governor made this announcement during a thank-you visit by the new Emir of Tikau, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Ibn Grema, and a delegation of Tikau Emirate title holders to the Government House in Damaturu.

Governor Buni announced that the government will provide farm inputs to 20 young farmers from each of the state’s 178 political wards totaling 3,560 beneficiaries.

According to Buni, the initiative aims to provide employment opportunities for youth and boost food sufficiency and security in the state.

“This effort will create employment for our youth and promote food sufficiency and security within Yobe State,” he said.

He also called on traditional and religious leaders, as well as parents, to play a crucial role in instilling moral values and discipline among the youth to secure a better future.

“The government, traditional authorities, and parents all have the responsibility to arrest the growing decay in morality, discipline, and drug abuse.”

The governor urged the new emir to continue his father’s legacy by promoting peace, unity, and development.

In his response, the new emir, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Ibn Grema, expressed gratitude to the government of Yobe state for their support during the recent passing of the late emir.
