The Kogi State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (Kogi L-PRES) has initiated the bidding process for the rehabilitation of nine livestock markets across the state.
Speaking during the bid opening exercise, the State Project Coordinator of Kogi L-PRES, Dr. Olufemi Bolarin, emphasized that the project aims to boost livestock productivity and create a conducive environment for all stakeholders within the livestock value chain.
He assured the six participating bidders of a fair and transparent evaluation process, stressing that contractor selection would be based on merit to ensure the project’s success.
Dr. Bolarin noted that the upgraded markets would provide secure, well-structured facilities to enhance livestock trade and support farmers, traders, and other stakeholders.
He commended Governor Usman Ododo for his unwavering commitment to transforming Kogi State’s agricultural sector, highlighting the project as a testament to the government’s dedication to advancing the livestock business sector.
According to Dr. Bolarin, the rehabilitation initiative is expected to boost livestock productivity, improve farmers’ incomes, and drive economic growth in the state.
The bid opening event also featured remarks from the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Timothy Ojomah, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Abdulsalam Sagir Mohammed.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to revitalizing the livestock industry and wished the participants a fruitful bidding process.
Key officials present at the event included Engr. Abas Ibrahim, Director of Electrical at the Ministry of Works; Mr. John Adejoh Agene, representing the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors; Mr. S.S. Amoka, Head of Procurement at the Kogi State Bureau of Public Procurement; and Prof. Omeiza Usman of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management.
