LCRI to Advance Climate-Smart Agriculture in North-east

by AgroNigeria

The Lake Chad Research Institute (LCRI) in Maiduguri has collaborated with farmers and key stakeholders during its 2025 in-house review meeting and the North East Zonal Refills Workshop to advance climate-smart agriculture in the region.

This effort is part of a broader push to use innovative research and extension services to assist communities in North East Nigeria that are recovering from the effects of insurgency and climate change.

LCRI stressed the critical importance of adopting sustainable farming methods that respond to current environmental challenges and enhance food security.

To support this goal, the institute is investing in farmer training, testing climate-resilient crops, and improving access to agricultural advisory services.

These initiatives are designed to close the gap between research and practical implementation, restore agricultural productivity, improve rural livelihoods, and support lasting peace and development across the region.
