The Cocoa Farmers Alliance Association of Africa (COFAAA), the pan-African body representing cocoa farmers across the continent, has extended its heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Ghana following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of several distinguished leaders.
In an official statement signed by COFAAA’s Global President, Comrade Adeola Adegoke, the association expressed “deep sorrow and a heavy heart” over the loss of- Edward Boamah, Minister of Defence, Ibrahim Mohammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator and Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress and former Ashanti Regional Minister
Also, Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate, Squadron Leader Peter Twum Ampadu, Flying Officer and Ernest Addo, Sergeant
These individuals died in a Z9 military helicopter crash en route to Obuasi for an event focused on combating illegal mining.
COFAAA stated that the loss is not Ghana’s alone, but a “painful blow felt across the continent.” Ghana, which stands as the second-largest cocoa producer globally and a pillar in Africa’s cocoa industry, has lost not only public officials, but “visionaries, bridge-builders, and passionate advocates for a better, safer, and more sustainable Africa.”
“These leaders were more than policymakers, they were champions of development and progress, whose dedication inspired hope in the hearts of millions.”
COFAAA extended its sympathies to the bereaved families, the Government of Ghana, and particularly the wider cocoa farming community who looked up to Ghana as a model of agricultural and policy excellence.
“At COFAAA, we share in the grief of our Ghanaian brothers and sisters. We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the Government of Ghana, and the entire cocoa farmers’ family.
“We also honour the legacy of these statesmen whose contributions will continue to inspire generations to come.
“May their souls rest in perfect peace. And may Ghana find strength and unity in this moment of national mourning, “the statement concluded.
