As part of efforts to foster youth participation in agriculture, the management of Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun, says the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved its application for College of Food Agricultural Science and Technology (COLFAST).

The development was made known in a statement by the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran, on Wednesday in Ota, adding that the new college would take off in the 2023/2024 academic session.

“This is a remarkable milestone for the university as the COLFAST would be tuition free,” he said.

Ojediran, said the University is now ranked within the 51-60 belt on the Times Higher Education rankings.

He said two students of the College of Engineering – Toluwanmi Oyegunle and Olatunde David – participated in and won the 6th CODET South-West Competition in the single and group categories.

The VC said a team of engineers/lecturers from the College of Engineering, also took the institution to greater heights by winning the 4th edition of the National Committee of Dean’s of Engineering and  Technology of Nigerian Universities (CODET) Public Competition 2023.

Futhermore, the university boss also said 37 students bagged First Class Honours, 195 students made second Class Upper, while 178 bagged second Class Lower.
