by AgroNigeria

In line with its commitment to promoting sustainable agricultural practices, the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation (BATNF) is addressing the challenges faced by Agripreneurs and fostering sustainable pathways in the agricultural sector.

This commitment was highlighted during the biennial Agribusiness Dialogue, where stakeholders convened to deliberate on strategies to advance smallholder farming.

Themed “Turning Challenges into Opportunities: Establishing Sustainable Strategies and Pathways for Smallholder Farmers in the Agrifood System,” the dialogue underscored BATNF’s dedication to supporting agribusiness and sustainable agriculture in Nigeria.

However, the Executive Director, BATNF, Ololade Johnson-Agiri, emphasized the foundation’s steadfast commitment to empowering smallholder farmers, recognizing their pivotal role in Nigeria’s agricultural landscape and food security.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Olusola Kehinde, lauded BATNF’s efforts in supporting smallholder farmers and urged stakeholders to devise adaptable strategies to address existing challenges.

Furthermore, the Director of the Enterprise Development Centre at Pan-Atlantic University, Nneka Okekearu, stressed the importance of intentional support for sustainable agriculture, acknowledging smallholder farmers as the backbone of Nigeria’s food production.

She emphasized the transformative potential of collaborative efforts in driving sustainable success for farmers and rural communities.
