Rivers Govt to Partner Austria on Agriculture, Others

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has agreed to collaborate with the Austrian government to improve healthcare service delivery, agriculture, and the quality of education for the state’s residents.

This commitment followed a closed-door meeting with the Austrian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Thomas Schlesinger, held on Friday at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt.

During the meeting, Mr. Schlesinger, part of a delegation representing Austrian company Avsatel Communications Limited, explored opportunities for partnership between Rivers State universities and an Austrian university. The aim is to provide high-quality health education within the state.

In a statement signed by Boniface Onyedi, Governor Fubara’s media aide, the Ambassador and Governor Fubara discussed potential areas of partnership. These included strengthening collaboration between Austrian universities and Rivers State-owned universities to enhance global training in health education, agriculture, and other sectors.

Former Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, who was present at the meeting, remarked on the state’s abundant potential and Governor Fubara’s effective utilization of these resources to improve the well-being of its residents.

Odili further explained that a new level of collaboration was being explored in the education sector. This initiative aims to facilitate shared experiences and exchange programs, thereby moving both Rivers State and Austria towards a brighter future in medical education.
