Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the wife of Ekiti State’s governor, has stressed the need for all residents  to participate in agricultural activities, irrespective of their status, to address current economic challenges.

This call was made while she was cultivating vegetables in her garden at the Government House, Ayoba Villa, Ado Ekiti.

The first lady highlighted that the establishment of household gardens, initiated by the wife of the President, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, is crucial to mitigate the impact of ongoing economic challenges. She emphasized the adaptability of planting crops in bags and containers for areas with limited land space.

According to her, this initiative not only promotes physical activity but also encourages healthy lifestyles by advocating for the consumption of organic produce.

She explained, “The cultivation of gardens at every home, as initiated by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, aims to address the high cost of food materials and alleviate the effects of current economic challenges.”

Speaking further, she said, “In addition to providing food at a subsistence level, home gardening offers an opportunity to engage in physical activity and promote healthy living through the consumption of organic food crops.”
