Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo-North and former Governor of Edo State under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has distributed 1,200 bags of 50kg NPK fertilizer to farmers within his constituency.
At the distribution event held in Iyamoh community on Wednesday, Senator Oshiomhole, who was represented by Abubakar Akokhia, Chairman of the Fertilizer Distribution Committee, announced that each farmer would receive a bag of fertilizer to enhance agricultural productivity.
Oshiomhole also announced that a small sum of money would be provided to each beneficiary to cover transportation costs for the fertilizer to their respective communities.
He explained that the fertilizer distribution initiative aims to reduce the hardships faced by farmers in Edo North and boost agricultural production in the senatorial district.
He further noted that the distribution was conducted without regard to party affiliation, stating that as a senator, he serves the interests of all constituents.
Senator Oshiomhole cautioned the beneficiaries against selling the fertilizer, stressing that it should be used to fertilize their crops in order to boost food production in the area.
According to him, the distribution is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to support farmers and ensure food security, and he urged the recipients to utilize the resources effectively to contribute to these goals.
“The distribution of fertilizer is to support farmers to cushion the economic effects on food production. The fertilizer is from the Federal Government and aims to enhance food security,” Oshiomhole said.
Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, promising to make the most of the support. They assured that it would lead to better crop yields and reduced food prices in the region.
