Agric Ministry Seeks Partnership With BBDA to Check Transborder Activities

by AgroNigeria

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has stated its willingness to partner with the Babanna Border Development Agency to oversee agricultural operations at the border

During a recent meeting in Abuja with the agency’s management, led by Director-General Mohammed Garba Danladi, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, stressed that the partnership would enable the Ministry to better monitor agricultural activities in the region, in collaboration with the agency and the local community.

The Minister highlighted the importance of gathering information on farmers operating within and near the border region due to the significant agricultural activities, particularly the cross-border movement of livestock.

He further instructed the establishment of a Joint Action Committee to develop strategies for formalizing the collaboration between the Ministry and the Agency through a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding.

In his remarks earlier, the Director-General of the Agency, Mohammed Garba Danladi, expressed his pleasure at visiting the Ministry, considering it as a return to familiar territory. He noted that the agency was established by the Federal Government to oversee agricultural activities, including crop production, marketing, and border surveillance.

Given its location on the border between Niger State and Benin Republic, Danladi called for cooperation, support, and partnership with the Ministry to achieve its objectives.
