Ekiti Governor Tours State’s Agricultural Clusters

by AgroNigeria

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State celebrated Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day by touring key agricultural clusters across the state, reaffirming his government’s focus on transforming the local economy through agriculture.

The governor, known as BAO, used the visit to assess progress on the implementation of Ekiti’s 30-year Agricultural Plan, a long-term strategy aimed at ensuring food security and economic sustainability.

However, this blueprint focuses on creating jobs, supporting youth engagement in farming, and boosting productivity in key agricultural sectors.

Over the Independence Day weekend, Governor Oyebanji toured farm clusters in Okeako, Iyemero, Gede, Ikere, Emure, Aramoko, and Ado. Despite challenging weather conditions, including torrential rains that turned roads to mud, the governor persisted in his visits, demonstrating his determination to be with the farmers on the ground.

The tour showcased a variety of crops being cultivated, including maize, cassava, yam, and horticultural products.

Governor Oyebanji reiterated his administration’s dedication to improving infrastructure such as farm roads, dormitories for young farmers, and security measures to support agricultural development.

However, the governor’s vision for agriculture also includes constructing dormitories with modern amenities to attract more youth into farming.

This agricultural initiative is part of a broader strategy to develop Ekiti State’s economy, including investments in infrastructure, healthcare, and education.

Furthermore, Governor Oyebanji’s leadership aims to make farming a key pillar of the state’s economic future, creating opportunities for both the present and future generations of Ekiti citizens.
