Experts Move to Promote Integrated Irrigation-aquaculture, Rice-fish Farming in Nigeria

by AgroNigeria

In a significant step towards achieving #ZeroHunger, delegates from Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Canada in Nigeria visited the Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) Integrated Aquaculture and SAFE Stove Production Centers in Maiduguri to promote integrated irrigation-aquaculture (IIA) and rice-fish farming in Nigeria

AgroNigeria gathered that this collaborative effort, revealed by FAO Nigeria on its X page, aims to empower local communities to build resilience against threats to their livelihoods.

By promoting integrated irrigation-aquaculture (IIA) and rice-fish farming, the program seeks to increase efficiency in water use, add value to agricultural by-products, and reduce pressure on natural resources.

The visit underscores the importance of strong partnerships in achieving food security and sustainable livelihoods.
