Kwara Govt Reiterates Commitment to Implement Food System Transformation

by AgroNigeria

Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to implementing the Food System Transformation Pathways (FSTP) program.

This initiative, introduced by the United Nations, aims to ensure access to safe and nutritious food for all Nigerian citizens.

The governor’s commitment was reiterated during a two-day bi-annual zonal review meeting on FSTP implementation, organized by the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning. The meeting brought together participants from various Northern and Southern states, including Ogun, Lagos, Ekiti, and Kwara, which hosted the event.

AbdulRazaq, represented by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, emphasized that Kwara is “leaving no stone unturned” to achieve the program’s objectives.

He highlighted the state’s progress, noting that over 300 public schools have established school farms, including animal husbandry practices like poultry, fishery, and goat and sheep rearing.

The FSTP program is anchored on three core pillars: home gardens, school gardens, and farm estate practices. Its primary goal is to address food security issues globally, promoting access to safe and nutritious food for all.
