The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to promoting initiatives that enhance food security for a sustainable future.
At a press briefing commemorating World Food Day, State Commissioner for Agriculture Dr. Forster Ihejiofor emphasized the importance of stakeholder collaboration in achieving economic prosperity and wellbeing for the state’s residents.
“Food security is not just about availability but also about nutrition, safety, access, utilization and stability.
“It shapes our social and economic landscape, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable agricultural systems,” Dr. Ihejiofor stated.
Permanent Secretary Mrs. Ifeyinwa Uzoka stressed maximizing limited agricultural land through efficient resource utilization.
“Everyone should farm their portion of land, no matter how small, to support the Farm to Feed initiative,” Ifeyinwa said.
This year’s World Food Day theme, “Food for Better Life and Better Future,” underscores promoting sustainable food systems and combating global hunger affecting over 733 million people.
