The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, recently completed a two-day official visit to Ekiti State, where he conducted a thorough inspection of the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado-Ekiti.
According to a statement from the Minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood, the visit was primarily aimed at evaluating the airport’s preparedness to commence non-scheduled passenger operations.
During his visit, Keyamo was warmly received by the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji, alongside several key members of the Ekiti State Government.
As part of the inspection, the Minister took time to commend the advanced facilities at the airport, highlighting the international-standard runway as a remarkable asset.
He noted that the airport is poised to serve as a hub for agro-cargo operations, as well as emerging passenger services.
The Minister’s visit coincided with the recent approval granted by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for the commencement of non-scheduled passenger operations at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, marking a major milestone in the airport’s development and expanding its scope of operations.
In a special tribute, Governor Oyebanji also took the opportunity to celebrate Minister Keyamo’s 55th birthday, showering praise on his relentless commitment to the aviation sector and his leadership in advancing the nation’s aviation infrastructure.
