Breaking: FMAFS’s Fisheries Department Ceded to Ministry of Marine & Blue Economy

Following a Presidential directive, the Fisheries Department of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS) has been ceded to the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.

President Bola Tinubu’s directive was confirmed on Thursday, December 21, 2023.

Recall that on August 21, 2023, Mr. President swore in a 45-member cabinet with a few new ministries, including the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.

The new ministry is tasked with the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth to improve livelihoods, and create jobs while preserving the health of marine and coastal ecosystems.

Adegboyega Oyetola is the Honourable Minister of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy
