BSN Donates Food Items to Lagos Community

In an effort to cushion the effects of economic hardship, the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has donated foodstuffs, school packs and copies of the Bible worth N7 million to members of the Makoko community in Yaba, Lagos State.

The General Secretary of the BSN, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, who was represented by the Programmes Manager, Mrs Grace Benjamin presented the food items to 90 households in the community.

According to him, the donation of food items and school packs was part of the society’s Macedonia Call Project, aimed at supporting the needy in schools.

His words: “We want to live out what is in the Bible. What we are doing today is in accordance with the Bible, which says we should support the needy among us.

“We don’t just translate the Bible, we help people interact with the word of God.”

Sanusi said this programme shows the BSN does not only take care of the spiritual needs of Nigerians, it also takes care of their material needs.

He added that the society was committed to supporting the efforts of the government.

“We did not only take care of people’s physical needs, we also supported them spiritually by giving them Bibles, to ensure they were balanced physically and spiritually,” he said.

AgroNigeria gathered that 120 pupils of Adekunle Primary School, Makoko, Lagos, benefited from the BSN school packs.

One of the beneficiaries of the food items, Ijukmisinno Hezekiah, expressed his gratitude to the society, adding that the food items would help alleviate their hardship.

Another beneficiary, Esther Benson, appreciated the BSN for remembering them.

She noted that the food items meant a lot to her during this current economic hardship.

The society started the Macedonia Call Project in 2018 and it has reached out to thousands of Nigerians in internally displaced persons camps and slums in different parts of the country.
