Lagos State Government has launched its Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan (LCARP) and Climate Change Mainstreaming Strategy.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu unveiled the plan at the 10th International Climate Change Summit, emphasizing the state’s commitment to climate adaptation.

The plan will serve as a guiding framework for the state to align its efforts with its climate change mitigation and adaptation strategy. Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat represented the governor at the event.

“It is important for us to recognise the urgency of our collective actions in mitigating the effects and championing adaptation initiatives,” Sanwo-Olu said.

“This resonates very deeply with the efforts and commitment of Lagos state government in combating climate change.

“Lagos has and will continue to take significant steps towards reducing our carbon footprints and emissions.

“We have undertaken studies to determine our carbon emissions to achieve zero emissions by 2050.”

The governor reiterated the commitment of his administration to ensuring that the state reduces its carbon footprints and emissions through the waste to energy initiative.
