The statement reads: “Ghana COCOBOD has long been a beacon of excellence in the cocoa sector, and we are confident that under your visionary leadership, the organisation will continue to thrive, setting new benchmarks in sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity.”

Emphasizing the new CEO’s appointment as timely, the  association highlighted the pressing challenges facing the cocoa industry, including climate change, fair pricing, and the need for increased value addition.

“Your accomplishment comes at a pivotal time. We are confident that your expertise, passion, and dedication will steer COCOBOD and the Ghanaian cocoa industry to even greater heights,” the statement added.

The association further commended the visit of the Executive Director of the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO), Mitchel Arrion, to Yaoundé, Cameroon, for the 111th Ordinary Session of the ICCO.

According to the statement, the visit demonstrated ICCO’s commitment to strengthening international collaboration and enhancing the welfare of cocoa farmers in Africa.

“The synergies between ICCO, COCOBOD, and other stakeholders will undoubtedly contribute to creating a more sustainable and inclusive global cocoa ecosystem,” COFAAA noted.

Reaffirming its dedication to advancing the interests of cocoa farmers, COFAAA pledged to collaborate with COCOBOD under Abbey’s leadership to implement initiatives that improve farmers’ livelihoods and ensure the long-term sustainability of Africa’s cocoa industry.

“Once again, congratulations on your new role. The COFAAA pledges its unwavering support as you embark on this transformative journey to elevate the Ghanaian cocoa sector, the African cocoa ecosystem, and strengthen its position on the global stage.”
