Ebonyi First Lady Distributes Farm Inputs to 100 Farmers

by AgroNigeria

To promote the presidential agenda on Agriculture, the wife of the Governor of Ebonyi State and First Lady of the state, Uzomaka Nwifuru has distributed farm inputs, equipment, and others to the 100 Women and Young Farmers Club in the state.

Distributing the items at the Old Presidential Lodge in Abakaliki, on Monday, the state’s first lady encouraged Nigerians to be more active in agriculture.

She noted that the programme aligned with Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on agricultural projects and food security.

The project was also supported by BERWO Foundation and the Ebonyi State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources in collaboration with Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu to actualise the programme.

Through the programme, the Ebonyi First Lady aims to empower 100 women in agriculture with training workshops focusing on sustainable farming practices, financial literacy, and business management skills.

According to her, many individuals, particularly women and young people, face significant barriers which prevent them from exploring agriculture.

She further noted that the Renewed Hope Agricultural Support Program seeks to address these barriers by providing support, resources, and training to women and youths.

She said, “This initiative, Renewed Hope Agriculture Support Program, is designed to enhance productivity, promote agribusiness, and create wealth through four major components: Women in Agriculture Initiative, Young Farmers Club, Every Home a Garden Campaign and Youth in Agriculture and Empowerment Program.

“Women play a crucial role in agricultural production yet often lack access to necessary resources such as land, credit, and training and empowering youth is critical for ensuring the sustainability of the agricultural sector.

“Young farmers are the future of agriculture. The Renewed Hope Agriculture Support Program recognises this potential by establishing Young Farmers Clubs across primary and secondary schools in Ebonyi State.”

While addressing the beneficiaries, the State’s Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Nkechinyere Iyioku, urged them to utilise the inputs.
