The Edo State Government has entered into a strategic partnership with the German Embassy to strengthen food production, enhance large-scale agricultural processing, and attract foreign investment to the state’s agribusiness sector.
The partnership was announced after a bilateral meeting in Benin City between the Special Adviser on Agriculture and Food Security to Governor Monday Okpebholo, Mr. Golden Ugbodu, and the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Johannes Lehne.
Speaking after the meeting, Ugbodu said the investment and technical cooperation align with Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to food security and sustainable agricultural development in Edo State.
“We plan to leverage Germany’s expertise, especially in deploying industrial machines for large-scale farming and processing,” Ugbodu stated.
He added that the partnership would also attract German investors to Edo’s lucrative agribusiness opportunities in farming, processing, and exports, in line with Governor Okpebholo’s five-point agenda to ensure food security and sustainable agricultural practices.
“Our goal is to guarantee that Edo citizens have access to nutritious food and economic opportunities,” he said.
The collaboration marks a significant step toward modernizing Edo’s agricultural sector and positioning the state as a hub for agribusiness investment in Nigeria.
