The lawmaker representing Abeokuta North/Obafemi-Owode/Odefa Federal Constituency, Mr Olumide Osoba, has affirmed that the federal government is concerned about the economic hardship and is currently working to make life better for all Nigerians.
Osoba flagged off the distribution of FG’s food palliatives to Arewa, Ndigbo, Igede communities, lepers and artisans across 38 wards in his constituency.
The flag-off event which was organized by the lawmaker, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, was held at the Ataba Close, Ibara GRA in Abeokuta.
While briefing journalists, Mr Osoba said the Federal Government is concerned about the hardship and is currently working to make life better for all Nigerians.
His words: “We have been supplied with these food items to deliver to our constituents. Figures are so difficult to believe. You have heard in the media all sorts of amounts.
“All I know is that no member of the House of Representatives has been given a dime. What you are seeing is facilitated by the Ministry of Agriculture and delivered by a contractor, so nobody was given any money.
“It is all about collective efforts. You do your bit and I do my bit. If I do over 2,000 today and in December I gave N100,000 to 800 people, it is adding up. Everybody must do their bit.”
A crowd of residents, the majority of whom were aged men and women, gathered as the 7,000 food items including 3,000 bags of rice, and 2,000 bags of beans of various sizes were stacked at the Ataba Close distribution point.
