The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, convened a high-level meeting in Abuja to accelerate the implementation of the National Agricultural Growth Scheme – Agro-Pocket (NAGS-AP).
The NAGS-AP initiative aims to enhance productivity and increase yields among farmers, significantly influencing food production and agricultural development nationwide.
Representatives from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Flour Mills of Nigeria, and the African Development Bank (AfDB) attended the meeting to discuss strategies for achieving immediate results.
During the meeting, Edun highlighted the urgent need for an effective input system during the dry season, and called for the use of high-quality, adaptable seeds in order to attain optimal yields.
The NAGS-AP team presented a detailed work plan for the 2024/2025 dry season, outlining their day-to-day implementation strategies.
In his statement, the Ministry of Finance’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Mohammed Manga, noted that the program is capable of transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector and contributing to food security and economic growth.
“As the project gains momentum, stakeholders remain committed to harnessing the nation’s agricultural potential, empowering farmers, and fostering a brighter future for Nigeria’s agricultural sector,” Manga stated.
