Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has announced a major cabinet reshuffle, including the creation of a new Ministry for Livestock Development, Veterinary Services, and Fisheries to boost agricultural productivity in the state.
The announcement was made on Tuesday in Jos through a statement by Mr. Samuel Jatau, Secretary to the State Government (SSG). The reshuffle follows the recent inauguration of five new commissioners appointed by the governor.
While some commissioners retained their previous portfolios, others were reassigned to new ministries. Notable changes include Mr. Musa Ashoms, who moved from the Ministry of Information and Communications to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, and Mr.Ubandoma Laven, who shifted from Housing and Urban Development to the Ministry of Works.
However, Dr. Cletus Shurkuk has been moved from the Ministry of Health to the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Among the newly appointed commissioners, Mr. Sylvanus Dongtoe will now oversee the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, while Mrs. Joy Ramnap takes charge of the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Dr. Nicholas Baamlong has been assigned to the Ministry of Health, and Mr. Cornelius Doeyok will lead the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Hospitality. Dr. Sunday Akp has been appointed to manage the newly created Ministry for Livestock Development, Veterinary Services, and Fisheries.
The governor’s decision to restructure the cabinet is aimed at improving governance efficiency and strengthening key sectors, particularly agriculture and youth development, to drive Plateau State’s socioeconomic growth.
