The Kogi State Government, through its Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, has launched the distribution of fertilizer to farmers across the state as part of its wet season farming program.
The initiative is designed to improve agricultural output, strengthen food security, and stimulate economic development.
At the launch event, which took place at the ministry’s warehouse in Felele, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Timothy Ojomah, expressed sincere appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his consistent support of the agricultural sector.
Also present were the state’s Accountant General, Hajiya Habibat Onumoko, and the Auditor General, Alhaji Yakubu Okala.
In his address, Hon. Ojomah commended Governor Ododo’s leadership and commitment, describing the fertilizer distribution as a clear demonstration of his support for farmers and food production efforts in the state.
He highlighted that the fertilizers are being provided free of charge, solely for the benefit of farmers, and urged recipients to use them effectively to increase yield and promote food sufficiency.
Representing the beneficiaries, Aliyu Musa expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for recognizing the needs of farmers and including them in agricultural support programs.
He noted that the fertilizer assistance would significantly boost harvests and improve farmers’ livelihoods.
This effort by the Kogi State Government highlights its dedication to agricultural progress and building a resilient food system for the people of the state.
