Former Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, is to deliver a lecture on climate-positive growth at the 23rd Shafi Lawal (S.L.) Edu Memorial Lecture.
The event, anchored by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF),is scheduled for January 14, 2025, at Ijewere Hall, Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIBN), Victoria Island, Lagos.
This year’s theme, “Greening Africa’s Economies: Can Climate-Positive Growth Deliver Prosperity?” emphasizes the instancy of integrating environmental sustainability with economic development.
The lecture will explore strategies for achieving climate-positive growth in Africa while fostering prosperity and resilience.
As NCF’s flagship advocacy event, the lecture aims to bring critical environmental challenges to the forefront and propose actionable solutions through expert speakers.
It reflects the growing need to address the impacts of climate change on economies, ecosystems, and livelihoods across the continent.
For over 20 years, the memorial lecture has served as a platform to address pressing environmental issues in Nigeria and beyond.
Additionally, the event awards research grants, sponsored by Chevron Nigeria Limited, to two PhD students from Nigerian universities working in environmental sciences.
These grants aim to promote research in conservation, biodiversity preservation, environmental management, and sustainable livelihoods.
