The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP) joined forces to inaugurate a bioclimatic testing chamber designed specifically for air-conditioners (AC).
The funding for this initiative comes from the European Union (EU) and the German government, as part of the NESP framework, a program that is implemented in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Power.
Farouk Salim, the director general of SON, expressed his belief that this initiative will help both the government and the private sector in creating an environment conducive to the growth of renewable energy markets in the country.
Salim also mentioned that the testing chamber will provide opportunities to assess energy efficiency, climatic adaptation, as well as durability and reliability of air conditioning units.
