The National Convenor of the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) in Nigeria, has issued a resounding call for collaborative efforts to revolutionize the nation’s food systems.
This was disclosed during the task team meeting for the technical review of the food system implementation strategy in Abuja on Thursday.
Addressing a diverse team comprising representatives from various sectors, Dr. Faniran emphasized that achieving the necessary transformation cannot solely rest on the public sector’s shoulders.
He stressed the multifaceted nature of food security, going beyond mere consumption to underscore the critical importance of establishing a robust processing infrastructure.
“Nigeria’s food systems need total transformation because it is the very backbone of the nation’s economy.”
Speaking further, he urged all stakeholders to embrace an implementation strategy that centers on sustainability, responsiveness, and equity.
“I urge you all to adopt an implementation strategy that places sustainability, responsiveness, and equity at its core,” he passionately asserted.
