Nigeria’s food security drive has intensified through closer Federal Government-state collaboration, spotlighted at a three-day National Agribusiness Policy Mechanism (NAPM) workshop in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Organized by the Presidential Food Systems Coordinating Unit (PFSCU), the event united Nigerian Governors’ Forum representatives, officials from 13 pilot states, ministries, agencies, and private sector players to assess the 2025/2026 dry season and set priorities for the next planting cycle.

PFSCU Executive Secretary Marion Moon, represented by Rachel Duke-Okeze, called for innovative responses to climate change and market volatility, positioning NAPM as a data-driven bridge between policy and action across government levels.

Ekiti’s Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Ebenezer Boluwade, noted the workshop’s role in fostering coordination, tackling challenges, and driving production and value chains for enduring food security.

Professor Abba Gambo, Agricultural Adviser to the Governors’ Forum, affirmed all 36 governors’ commitment amid hurdles like rural insecurity and soaring fertilizer costs, urging youth and women involvement.

NAPM Project Coordinator Khalid Sani emphasized aligning strategies to ramp up nationwide productivity ahead of planting season.
