Delta State has attracted fresh interest from international investors following inspection tours of major business and industrial facilities across the state during the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit.

Representatives from Brazil, Malaysia and the United States visited several investment locations to assess opportunities in agriculture, energy and manufacturing. Their visits formed part of efforts to identify areas for possible collaboration with the state government.

Speaking after touring the facilities, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, said the inspection exercise was designed to give prospective investors a firsthand view of the state’s business environment and existing enterprises.

According to him, the state is seeking partners who can provide capital, modern technology and technical expertise to accelerate economic growth. He assured the visiting delegation that Delta remains committed to creating a secure and business friendly environment for both local and foreign investors.

Among the locations visited was the Kwale Special Economic Zone, where the delegation inspected the Kwale Gas Gathering Hub and Phoenix Company. They also toured Skyward Resources Group in Oleh as well as Uzezi Farms in Oyede to evaluate ongoing investments and production activities.

Leader of the Brazilian agribusiness delegation, Roberto Fonseca, praised the development of the Kwale Special Economic Zone, describing it as a strategic project with the potential to attract international businesses and support industrial expansion.

Fonseca disclosed that Brazilian investors were considering projects in natural gas powered electricity generation and cassava processing. He expressed confidence that both countries would soon deepen economic cooperation through investments in Delta State.

He also said Brazil was prepared to support Nigeria’s drive for increased food production by providing agricultural technology, investment and technical knowledge. According to him, opportunities also exist in livestock production and beef processing, areas where Brazil has considerable experience.

The Malaysian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Aiyub Omar, also identified agriculture as a major area of interest. He explained that Malaysian companies with expertise in oil palm cultivation were exploring opportunities to partner with Delta State in expanding commercial plantation development.

Founder of Agrinexus, Dr Shermal Perera, revealed that his organisation already has working relationships with Nigerian partners and is evaluating additional investment opportunities within the state.

Also commenting on the visit, the Managing Director of Skyward Resources Group, Chief Eta Enahoro, said his company had previously benefited from technical collaboration with Brazilian experts. He added that the organisation remains open to new partnerships that would strengthen and expand its agricultural operations.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Festus Ahon, said the investment tour formed part of activities lined up for the summit to showcase Delta State’s economic potential to prospective foreign investors.
