The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has restated his administration’s commitment to bolstering security measures and promoting agricultural development in the state.

During a courtesy visit by the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, Governor Radda emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the state government and the armed forces to tackle insecurity. He called on the CAS for continued support in strengthening security efforts across Katsina.

The governor expressed gratitude to the military for its ongoing role in improving security, acknowledging recent enhancements at Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport as an example of productive cooperation. He pointed to unemployment, illiteracy, and limited economic opportunities as underlying causes of insecurity in the state, and stressed his administration’s focus on agriculture—an industry that employs about 90% of Katsina’s population.

Governor Radda highlighted key developments in his administration’s agricultural initiatives, revealing the recent allocation of ₦30 billion for modernizing the sector. The state also procured and distributed more fertilizer than any other state in Nigeria, ensuring farmers had timely access.

The governor also announced plans to distribute over 4,000 solar-powered irrigation pumps with the aim of boosting productivity and creating jobs, particularly for the youth.

On security, the governor reported  progress in identifying and arresting over 1,000 informants collaborating with bandits, thanks to the efforts of the Katsina State Security Watch. He urged community leaders and citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate in maintaining security.

In response, Air Marshal Abubakar commended the state government for its enhanced intelligence-sharing mechanisms, which have contributed to a safer environment for socioeconomic development. He also lauded Governor Radda’s initiative in establishing the Katsina Community Watch Corps to strengthen grassroots security.

He expressed his intent to deploy additional Special Forces to key locations, reinforcing the efforts of the armed forces and other security agencies. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to a comprehensive approach that addresses both immediate security challenges and long-term socioeconomic growth.
