The China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) has donated over 11 tons of food supplies to the Borno State government to support victims of the recent devastating flood.

“As a central Chinese enterprise that has been operating in the Nigerian market for many years, CMEC has consistently monitored the livelihoods of local residents and actively fulfilled its social responsibilities,” said Liu Shuai, CMEC representative.

The donation, handed over in Maiduguri, aims to alleviate the suffering of flood victims.

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, expressed gratitude and assured timely post-disaster reconstruction.

CMEC pledged continued support, including investments in post-disaster reconstruction efforts. Governor Zulum highlighted the significance of CMEC’s Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant project in the local community’s socio-economic development, anticipating further cooperation.

The flood, which occurred on September 10, was the worst in 30 years, causing deaths, destruction, and displacement of hundreds of thousands.
