Akwa Ibom to Build Songhai Model Oil Palm Mill

Pastor Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State has revealed his plans for the construction of a Songhai Model Oil Palm Mill in Ibekwe Akpanyah region, situated at Mkpat-Enin Local Government Area of the state.

He disclosed this during a special church service held on Sunday to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Solid Rock Kingdom Church and the 75th birthday of Apostle John Okoriko in Ibekwe Akpanyah, Mkpat Enin LGA.

He explained that the choice of Ibekwe Akpanyah community as the mill’s location is aimed at complementing the existing oil palm plantation under the ownership of the Solid Rock Church.

Speaking further,  he noted that it will offer a range of processing services to local oil palm farmers.

In his words, “It’s a full mill. The team that accompanied me to the Songhai Integrated Farm saw that mill. I wanted to establish a model, and now that I’ve seen a private farm here, we’ll establish a model here so that you and the women in this area can keep producing and supporting the government.”

Umo further expressed his commitment to advancing agriculture by supplying mills to local oil palm farmers for the processing of palm fruits and related products in line with the ARISE agenda and announced the directive for the construction of the first local mill of this kind in this area, tailored to the specific needs of the existing farm.

“As part of our ARISE Agenda, we have a plan to boost agriculture by providing mills to local oil palm farmers to process their palm fruits and other palm produce. For this kind of farm you have here, I have directed that the very first of such local mills be established here”, he added
