Food Security: Finance Ministry Reiterates Support for NAGS-AP Programme

The Ministry of Finance has reiterated its commitment to support the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMFS) and the Federal Government’s  National Agriculture Growth Scheme and Agropocket (NAGS-AP) programme to achieve food security for Nigeria.

This pledge came during a goodwill message at the NAGS-AP stakeholders retreat delivered on behalf of Minister, Olawale Edun at the Upper-Class Event and Recreation Centre in Orozo, Nasarawa State.

The representative of the Ministry of Finance expressed gratitude to the stakeholders present for their ongoing support of the government’s agricultural initiatives, highlighting their perfect alignment with the national priority of food security.

“We seize this opportunity to thank all the many stakeholders gathered here today for your continued support of the government’s agricultural programs, a cornerstone of this administration’s priorities,” the representative stated. “These programs directly address the challenges faced by our people and perfectly align with Nigeria’s national goal of food security.”

He further emphasized the role of active participation in strengthening food security nationwide.

“Let us, as participants in this crucial event, contribute meaningfully to ensure the advancement of our nation’s food security,” he urged.

The Ministry of Finance also expressed strong support for FMAFS’ focus on staple crops like wheat, maize, and cassava as these are essential ingredients in the daily lives of Nigerians and contribute significantly to the wellbeing of Nigerians.

“We particularly highlight the production of wheat, maize, and cassava – these are the staple foods Nigerians rely on every day,” he elaborated. “As active participants, we must all contribute our best. By doing so, we firmly believe we can not only feed the nation but also produce surplus for export.”
