NG-CARES: 26,000 Farmers Get Free Agricultural Inputs

by AgroNigeria

In a significant move to enhance food security and boost agricultural productivity, no fewer than 26,000 farmers in Jigawa State have received free agricultural inputs, including three bags of fertilizer, improved seeds, herbicides, and insecticides.

These inputs were distributed under the NG-CARES Results Area II initiative through the FADAMA office in Jigawa State.

Malam Aliyu Inuwa, the Jigawa State FADAMA CARES Coordinator, revealed this during a press briefing in Dutse following the disbursement.

He emphasized that the intervention is part of a broader effort to support the federal government’s goal of achieving food security across the nation.

“The early provision of fertilizers is critical for a successful farming season. We understand the importance of timely agricultural inputs in boosting productivity. This is part of Jigawa State’s commitment to leading in agricultural production, and this is one of the steps towards achieving that,” Aliyu explained.

The initiative aims to not only boost food production but also to improve the livelihoods of citizens, particularly those in rural communities.

Several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the timely distribution of these essential inputs, praising Governor Umar Namadi’s administration for addressing a long-standing issue that had previously hindered agricultural success in the state.

“For years, farmers in the state have often faced delays in receiving essential inputs, which has historically led to reduced yields and economic hardships. However, this administration has prioritized the timely distribution of agricultural inputs, addressing a long-standing challenge,” the farmers noted.

Malam Ibrahim Usman, one of the beneficiaries, shared his satisfaction with the initiative, stating, “This year, we received our fertilizers at the time when the plants needed them most, unlike before. This timely intervention means we can now maximize our crop yields, and we’re hopeful for a bountiful harvest.”

The initiative marks a critical step in ensuring food security and improving the agricultural output of Jigawa State, setting a benchmark for future agricultural interventions in the region.
