The Niger State Government has sealed a partnership agreement with Jade Partners, an international agricultural company, to produce sesame on 5,000 hectares of land.
The agreement, which was signed in conjunction with Niger Foods and Security Systems and logistics Ltd at the Government House, Minna, aims to empower local farmers with modern farming techniques, inputs, and guaranteed off-take for their harvests.
According to Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, “the agreement is a reflection on the State Government’s commitment to driving agricultural development and creating opportunities for the people.”
The project is expected to create job opportunities for the teeming populace and increase sesame output, ultimately transforming Niger State into a hub for high-quality sesame cultivation.
The Executive Chairman of Niger Foods, Sammy Adigun, described the initiative as a “game-changer for farmers in Niger State” as it will position the state as a leader in sustainable sesame production.
Adigun added that the project will, in the long run, boost rural development and strengthen Nigeria’s role as a leading sesame exporter.
